Human Resources Professionals typically have these skills:
- Associate Degree in appropriate field or equivalent work experience plus minimum years of related experience
- Experience in interpreting and applying department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations and responding to and resolving employee questions and concerns
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to handle administrative duties with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
- Conduct business internally and externally with professionalism, tact and respect
- Establish rapport and trust at all levels within the organization
Other Human Resources duties may include:
- In small companies, Human Resource Managers may be responsible for the comprehensive needs of the workforce
- In large organizations, Human Resource Managers may oversee a team of HR professionals who direct individual specialty areas
- Manage payroll
- Oversee insurance benefits, medical or disability leave and compliance with labor laws
- Recommend effective, efficient organizational development plans
- Ensure the availability of qualified personnel through human resource processes
